Why you Need a Humidifier and Dehumidifier
When you think of a humidifier, you probably think of the contraption your mother plugged in next to your bed as a child when you suffered from a cold. As a home owner and now grown adult, it should make you happy to know that a bigger and better version of mother’s cold-cure can be installed into your home and work for you year-round (not just during cold season). And what’s even cooler, is that a dehumidifier can also be installed into your home. It is beneficial to you and your loved ones to maintain consistent humidity levels for ideal comfort in your home, and for your health.
You may be wondering what a full home humidifier or dehumidifier can do. For starters, it is important to know that a humidity level of 30% to 50% is ideal within a home.
If your home doesn’t have enough humidity, the air within it can become incredibly dry. The dry air can cause you to develop a scratchy throat, and dry nose. The dryness the air creates in your body can also increase your chances of snoring, which will affect your sleeping patterns, which can affect your overall health. The overabundance of dry air due to not having enough humidity in your home can start to create a current of static electricity. This can leave you with static in your hair, along with shocks from your doorknobs, blankets, etc. If any of these things are happening, it is time to invest in a humidifier and increase the moisture content in your home.
If a home is filled with too much humidity, the air around you will feel damp. This often happens in a basement type setting (though it can happen anywhere within the home). The damp air usually begins in the warm summer months. This damp air can perpetuate the growth of allergens like mold, dust mites and mildew. Some may find themselves highly allergic to these allergens and without the proper equipment to help alleviate them, the spores, bacteria and odors are being filtered through your lungs, skin and nasal cavities. If you are experiencing high allergens within your home, it may be a good idea to invest in a dehumidifier and decrease the moisture content in your home.
